On May 5, 2025, Meicun Church(the Beautiful Village Church) held its second Mission Prayer Night in Jakarta, Indonesia, themed “African Night”.
The story traces back to 2023, when Brother Haiwen encountered an African sister while sharing the gospel—a divine appointment that marked the beginning of Meicun Church’s connection with the African continent. In January 2024, we hosted a retreat in Jakarta, gathering fifty African international students residing in Indonesia. Through a series of divine orchestrations, the Lord revealed to us a vision: the vast continent of Africa, home to 1.5 billion people, became the burden we now carry day and night in prayer.
That evening, the worship was led by Sister Subira from Tanzania, and praise flowed like a spring. The congregation joined in joyful chorus, lifting up “Hallelujah” to the Lord.
Brother Solomon from Ghana testified of God’s grace. He once sought the Word of God with great hunger, and the Lord led him to Meicun Mission Seminary, where he received grace beyond what he had asked or imagined. He affirmed the substitutionary atonement of Jesus and came to understand the riches of God’s eternal covenant. Committed to walking the way of the cross, he resolved to live—and if called, die—for the gospel.
Brother Haiwen then preached from Acts 2:32–36. Jesus who drank the bitter cup on Golgotha is now exalted at the right hand of God in glory. In Him, the glorious Christ and the shamed criminal meet—and thus the gospel is fulfilled. As His followers, we bear the marks of this life. Since He has overcome, we go forth in His name. Brother Haiwen exhorted all present to cry out in prayer: that we may be wholly committed to the mission, walk with Christ, and proclaim His gospel to all nations.
Afterward, Brother Jonathon from South Africa shared his experience. Having studied theology in Israel, he was forced to return home due to war. Burdened by the spiritual dryness of the South African church, he lamented the lack of a place for new believers to be nurtured after receiving the gospel. God, through Pastor Natan, led him to Meicun Mission Seminary, where He is raising up a missionary team to go to all nations.
Jonathon shared about the spiritual desolation of South Africa. Though the missionary Andrew once brought glimmers of hope, the land still cries out for the light of the gospel. He presented an overview of Cape Town and his hometown of Hout Bay, and called on the congregation to pray for:
- Repentance in South Africa and revival in its churches (churches in Hout Bay and St. James Church in Kenilworth)
- Open doors for Meicun Church to enter South Africa (visa and support), and establish a seminary in Cape Town
- South African students at University of Cape Town who may be called to join the seminary in the future.
He closed by leading the congregation in thanksgiving—declaring that God has already begun, and will certainly accomplish, His wondrous plan of salvation to all peoples and all nations.
South Africa is a land we now carry with deep longing. The Lord has prepared Jonathon, and He is also preparing us. We are ready to respond to this vision and go forth, just as Paul once answered the call from Macedonia.
The Macedonian call—
Where does it now resound?
“Come over and help us!”
“Come over and help us!”
Where are there cries of sorrow?
Where is His name being called?
“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
“Here am I! Send me.”
There’s a call comes ringing o’er the restless wave,
“Send the light! Send the light”
There are souls to rescue, there are souls to save,
Send the light! Send the light!
Send the light, the blessed gospel light;
Let it shine from shore to shore!
Send the light the blessed gospel light;
Let it shine forevermore!
We sincerely invite you to pray with us for the following:
- The South Africa would repent and the churches be revived (churches in Suburb of Hout Bay and St. James Church in Kenilworth)
- That God would open doors for Meicun Church to enter South Africa (visas and support), and establish a seminary in Cape Town
- That God would raise up South African students at University of Cape Town to be trained in the seminary
You can participate in our mission work through the following:
- Join our online or in-person prayer meetings and partner with us in intercession for Africa
- Enroll in Meicun Mission Seminary and be equipped as a missionary
- Become a mission partner and walk with us as we plant gospel-centered churches across Africa
- Support us financially: you can fund the gospel ministry we’re launching in South Africa or sponsor an African seminary student for a year of theological training
